Alexandra Cardoso

I’m a Portuguese graphic designer with a practice rooted in experimentation across different methods of visual communication. I have a particular interest in typography, editorial design, and film photography.

I’m drawn to work that captures mood, texture, and narrative across both digital and print formats. As I finish my final year at university, I’m excited to keep pushing my creative boundaries and to take on new projects that reflect my evolving design perspective.

Estoril Open

A self-initiated project focused on the rebranding of the Estoril Open tennis tournament. The design drew inspiration from the classic tennis ball, serving as the foundation for the concept. The selected font embodies the fluidity of the game, balancing a rounded form with a tall and elegant structure, an essential aspect in capturing the essence of tennis.

Deep Dive

“Blurred to Reveal” is a visual and conceptual exploration of olive oil packaging through the lens of color perception. By intentionally obscuring brand names and graphic details, the book invites readers to see what remains when marketing noise is stripped away, revealing pure fields of color as the dominant communicators.

Azeite Puro

Passed through generations this particular Olive Oil was passed from my great grandparents more than 90 years ago to my grandma, that then passed it to my grandpa.

Together they teached their 4 children, my dad an uncles how this special product is produced and mantained. I was lucky to have both of my grandparents produce Olive Oil, I loved having this little piece of comfort knowing that they would always provide us the most loved and cared for product.
The brand reflects on the traditional roots while maintaining a modern and fun graphic aproach. Printing is now being produced.

O’NEILL
Internship

During my internship at the sports brand O’Neill, I had the opportunity to work with the creative team inside the marketing department. I was one of two graphic designers.

My role varied from the production of website assets, newsletters, in store visuals, social media posts and prints.

This is one of many projects, in which I took part from the TRVLR fall campaign.

Creative Direction:
Claudia Dader (my mentor)

SIP

Collaboration project focused on the differences between two cities, Porto and Berlin.

Me and my friend Scarlett decided to embrace our “long distance friendship” during our placement year, which lead us to create an editorial publication, showcasing photos taken by us that reflect the cultural differences between both cities.

London Threads

London Threads is an independent magazine that showcases London fashion through the daily life of the locals. My intention was to capture the people and energy of the city as it is, with a natural flow with bold typefaces.
I happily only had a good response from everyone who collaborated in the project. It was fun to go around the city and meet new people!

Transition

Transition, is a stop frame animation composed by analog image and hand drawn frames. To achive the final result I hand crushed in different positions a piece of A4 pink paper,  then, I adjusted the prespective in different pictures to after place them together with the running men drawings. This project was full of different experimentations and I really enjoyed finding a new way to achive what could have been done digitally.
